HM2R Facilitates Training on Paperless Data Collection

Open Data Kit (ODK), is android-based software on mobile devices. This technology facilitates paperless data collection and real time transmission of data to a cloud-based for access globally. Data harvested in excel are exportable to various statistical packages for analysis and decision making.

In line with HM2R?s objective of providing mentoring/capability training in research?and pedagogy, HM2R facilitated the training (Trainers of Trainers) to equip the selected few with the competencies to execute paperless data collection initiatives (paperless data collection, and supervision). This first cohort of trainees will serve as field workers in a forthcoming research at the School of Public Health.

The training was conducted at the University of Ghana, School of Public Health, Accra ? Ghana, and facilitated by HM2R. The training was conducted during weekends and lasted four weekends with intensive practical and theory sessions lasting about five hours per session. A total of six trainees were involved: Mr Dave Quarshie, Mr Solomon Tetteh, Mr Ernest Amoah Ampah, Mr Nathaniel Coleman, Mr Bernard Owusu Amponsah, and Miss Angelina Andoh. Mr Aliyu Mohammed Research Director at ISOTECH Research Consult and a doctoral student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was the master Trainer.

Certificates of successful completion were awarded to deserving participants.
